George W. Shire (son of David Shire and Sara Dursham) was born 21 May 1855 and died 19 Dec 1930. George married Mary Parr on 11 Mar 1877 in Crawford County, Illinois.
Mary Parr Shire died on 3 Feb 1922.
In the 1930 census, there is a G W Shire living in Oblong, Crawford County, Illinois. He is married to Emma (born about 1865). This GW Shire is listed as being a janitor at a bank, which is the same occupation listed for George Shire in the 1920 census.
Does anybody know who George married and when?
I received a "Return of Marriage" record from the Illinois Archives today.
George W Shire was married to Emma Muchmore (formerly Emma Kairts) on 19 May 1923 in Oblong, Crawford County, Illinois.
Emma's father's name was Isaac Kairts and her mother's name was Mary Hormon (not sure of the last name, the handwriting is difficult to read).
All census data shows the last name of her family as Kirts (without the "a" as the record states). Emma was previously married to C.S. Muchmore.
The 1900 census shows her having a daughter, Rosie (born 1885). Later censuses show her as having birthed one child with one child living. The 1920 census includes Emma's granddaughter, Maurine Walters.
